Where a part number is

unavailable for re-ordering (checkbox for the inventory record field Backorderable is unticked)
no alternative exists; and
there is insufficient stock on hand to meet the order

The shortfall is updated into the Demand column. Accept the quantity offered or delete the order line if appropriate.
